Klistremerke spørsmål

Postby GT750 » 11 Dec 2012, 08:17

Dear Saab enthousiast,

As I don’t speak all of your languages, I’ll apologize for only writing in English.

I don’t know if you are the right person for this problem, but maybe you can forward this mail to the right person of member within your enthusiastsclub.

As I’m also an enthusiast for many years, I’ve driven several Saabs.

• Saab 900 GLi (1981)
• Saab 900 turbo (1983)
• Saab 99 (1972) *
• Saab 96 V4 (1974) twice
• Saab 99 turbo (1980)
• Saab 9³ cabriolet (2006) *
• Saab 900 I (1992) *
• Saab 96 V4 (1978) *
* Still in my possession

It’s about the last one I have a question.

This car, which I bought last year in Brussels (Belgium), was put aside in 1984 with motor damage. It has never left the garage until march 2011. In November I started the restoration, after I took many photo’s. On one of these photo’s, there was a blue sticker on the door jamb, about 8x5 cm. You’ll find this photo as an attachment with this mail. This sticker is removed during the restoration.
The car needed also new tires on the standard 4.5” wheels. From SSR (Saab Sport & Rally) I saw that the sizes 155/80/15 and 165/80/15 were recommended. So I’ve chosen the biggest ones.

After the restoration, in June this year, I contacted Anders Jensen in Sweden, to buy a set of original stickers. This particular one, he didn’t know.

So I started a search in Belgium, the Netherlands. Everybody who wanted to sell a Saab 96 V4, I’ve contacted. I even contacted the Saab museum in Trollhättan and NDF in Sweden, without positive result. Nobody knows this one, but still it was on my car.

As you can see on what’s left about the sticker, it’s an approval for the Saab 95 V4 and 96 V4, with a Swedish approval mark (E5), about, I presume, tire sizes or/and pressure.

My first question is : does anybody knows this sticker ?

The possibility exists that this sticker was only for cars outside of Sweden, for export to Europe or elsewhere, but probably not for every car. At this moment only two person in the Netherlands have seen this sticker, but they don’t have it anymore.
My car was originally delivered in Belgium in Juni 1978 to the first owner. I’m the second one.

So does anyone knows this sticker or does anyone has this sticker his your car, please send me a picture of it, so I can remake it to put it in my car, so this car is identical to the car that left the factory in 1978.

My second question is : what tire sizes are allowed on a Saab 96 V4 ?
In Belgium only the size 155/80/15 is allowed if I want a normal registration plate (type 1-ABC-234). For an old-timer registration (type 1-OAB-123) it doesn’t matter.
Only if there exists original documents from Saab, they’ll allow the bigger size. Any document will do, from manuals, folders, or a special document of approval.

Many thanks.

About that sticker, maybe you could try to contact this guy? He produces Saab factory stickers, but it doesn't seem like he's got this one. Maybe he have seen it before? :)

I obviously didn't read closely enough  Have you tried registering at the forum for the swedish saab club, asking them?
